Contemporary circus show that refers to rurality, its deconstruction and imaginary from an urban and contemporary point of view. Artistic investigation through the relationship between the body and the object at the intersection of plastic installation, sound composition and lighting.
Starting from the idea of original and primary work and its place in the current urban space, we chose an object that digs the times until today - the hoe. Symbol of work, of connection between past and present, of repetition and balance common to the contemporary circus.
A poetic allusion to the work of the land through an ancestral object/hoe that relates man with the landscape. We start from the ritual, the effort and resistance, to symbolically present any agricultural cycle. Digging, sowing, germinating, watering and harvesting. Through the deconstruction of the hoe we allude to the spirit of rural materiality for the urban context, increasingly immaterial/evanescent. Recalling the origins, the importance of agriculture in the settlement of peoples and their development and the relationship of man with nature. Archaic/contemporary dialectics in the rapidly changing Portuguese territory. Where is the rural and where does it go?
