The 12th edition of FIG – International Festival of Giants arrives in Pinhal Novo on the 7th of July. This Festival has in the streets of the village the privileged space for the manifestation of culture of a popular and more traditional nature.

Over the course of three days of programming, highlights include the visit to FIG of the 1st International Meeting of Pipers, with the participation of 9 European countries and the shows “Cantata do Fim do Mundo” (SFUA and ATA), “Mutabilia (Teatro do Mar), “Imperphecto” (25 years of Bardoada), “A Gigantea” (Cia Le Trois Cles), “Parade of Giants”, with all participating groups, “Esencial” (Vaivén Circo), “Omiri” (Vasco Ribeiro Casais) and “Ur” (Haatik Danza).

Biennial presence in the cultural calendar of the region and the country, FIG has also conquered its space within the European panorama of festivals. It should be remembered that it received the seal of quality, which identifies the festival as an integral part of the EFFE platform (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe), created by the Association of European Festivals.

FIG is an initiative of the Municipality of Palmela, with partners Bardoada – Grupo do Sarrafo, ATA – Acção Teatral Artimanha, Associação Juvenil COI and PIA – Projectos de Intervenção Artística, created in 1995, which combines traditional arts and contemporary expressions .
