Implemented in partnership with the GDA Foundation, this action is based on the content already developed for the chapter of the same name of the “manual of good practices for organizing artistic events in public spaces”, translating the most current legislation into a practical and readable context. . The legal and regulatory context presents itself as a complementary, but absolutely essential, dimension to the planning and pre-production phases of event organization and cannot, therefore, be neglected. Before implementing any project, it is important to know and understand the applicable legal framework. Both general legislation and regulations apply to artistic creation and its presentation in public space, that is, transversally applicable to the exercise of other activities in public space, and specific ones, i.e., specifically aimed at the artistic and entertainment sector. During one day, a theoretical methodology is applied with theoretical-practical discussion actions, with the aim of providing participants with essential notions and tools, understanding the different dimensions of legislation applicable to public space, highlighting the licensing of shows and venues, security systems and the extent of copyright and related rights.

Alexandra Saraiva Fonseca is a lawyer. Founder of ConsulArte, she provides specialized legal and tax advisory services for the cultural and creative sector, across areas such as cinema and audiovisual, literature and publishing, visual and performing arts, music, software, design and brands, aimed at both individual and collective projects (creative companies, audiovisual producers, publishers, agents and managers, museums, art schools and universities). She was a teacher, among others, of the Legislation for the Cultural and Creative Sector curricular unit, at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
