Teatro do Mar has a well-established practice of hosting artistic residencies in the fields of theatre, circus, dance, music, performance, installation, site-specific creations, and multidisciplinary approaches. This programme aims to support and foster national artistic creation focused on public spaces, promoting the development of emerging projects through logistical, technical, and financial assistance, as well as production and promotion support.

The guiding principles of this programme include encouraging, challenging, supporting, and promoting artistic creation, fostering dynamics of collaboration, sharing, and interaction between the community and the selected artists. The objective is to explore new concepts of mediation and deepen the connection with audiences, offering transformative and inclusive experiences.

When selecting and programming artistic residencies, the criteria considered include artistic innovation and quality, the artists’ track record, the relevance of the work to public spaces and street arts, the feasibility of strategic mediation actions with the local community, and adaptability to the specific conditions of the residency.
