Participatory artistic practices, as a tool for strengthening human connections and transforming public space into a place of encounter and dialogue, are at the heart of this workshop within the Outdoor Arts Portugal capacity-building programme. The training aims to explore creative approaches that place people at the centre of the artistic process, fostering empathy, collaboration, and the construction of shared narratives.
Designed for cultural sector professionals, the workshop will cover methods to engage diverse communities, strategies to create meaningful experiences that value individual and collective stories, and practices that enhance a sense of belonging and connection in public space. Ethical and practical questions—such as trust-building, managing expectations, and creating safe spaces for expression and participation—will be thoroughly discussed.
With a particular focus on the human dimension and interpersonal relationships, this training space invites reflection on the role of art in fostering more inclusive and connected communities, transforming public space into a vibrant territory of exchange and collective creation.
