IN SITU is the European platform for artistic creation in public space. Since 2003, it has supported more than 270 artists with work outside conventional spaces and contributing to the transformation of territories. IN SITU is an ecosystem that connects a new generation of artists with audiences, programmers and key actors involved in Europe's economic, political and social realities.
IN SITU's main mission is to support emerging artists at all stages of the creation process. For years, IN SITU has organized original meeting formats that are constantly being reworked and redesigned to meet the needs of artists.
The Hot House is a safe space designed to give European artists and programmers the opportunity to discuss artwork in process. It offers the possibility to think about the practice, obtain new perspectives, envision different ways of interacting with the public and with the place, having a new life, leaving the comfort zone, adapting a show to a place or context – and always in an support and listening.
For this call, the objective is to invite emerging artists who are in the first steps of their project to join the network members and work collaboratively for a week around their ideas (one or more). This year, the focus is on projects related to climate change and sustainability. This can be understood from different perspectives in the project idea and/or in the artistic creation process as a way of reflecting, discussing, approaching and/or challenging this theme for different audiences in Europe.
During the Hot House, selected artists will be mentored by associated artists and citizens of the (UN)COMMON SPACES project and will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with them and the 16 network partners. English will be the main language of the meeting: the participating artists must be able to present their ideas and exchange ideas in that language.
