Outdoor Arts Portugal is an interdisciplinary platform, promoted by Bússola, aimed at Portuguese creative and production agents in the fields of outdoor arts and contemporary circus. Its objective is to enhance the development of contemporary artistic creation in these domains, focusing on a mission of promoting and disseminating the most current artistic languages, innovative dramaturgies, and promoting international sectorial communication, aligned with European networks and platforms, maximizing opportunities for national artistic agents. Biennially, the Outdoor Arts Portugal Showcase presents itself in a face-to-face version, in conjunction with LEME, highlighting emerging national artists with innovative artistic proposals for public spaces and unconventional artistic presentation venues.
In 2024, the manifesto for this concerted action aims to continue the principle of valuing the "common space" as a meeting place, highlighting people as an essential element of the experience of public space and their stories as a tool for memory and humanization of the common space. The programmatic context focuses on aesthetic innovation, seeking to present emerging and innovative dramaturgies, in line with the most current European trends, and challenging spaces, artists, and the public to change their perspective. The synergistic programming vision for this edition is combined with the hosting of two European cooperation projects (BETA CIRCUS and Hand to Hand) with added potential to attract international promoters and added value for the visibility of participating artists.
This call for entries will select 3 artistic projects designed for public spaces and unconventional venues for public presentation as part of the Outdoor Arts Portugal Showcase, integrated into the LEME festival, taking place in Ílhavo from December 5 to 8, 2024, for a mixed audience: the general public and a delegation of professionals (national and international).
The Outdoor Arts Portugal Showcase is supported by the Portuguese Republic - Culture, through the Direção-Geral das Artes, and by 23 Milhas - Municipality of Ílhavo.
