João Antunes, born in Lisbon, started his journey in the world of arts in 2015 when he joined the Professional School of Arts and Crafts of the Show (Chapitô), finishing the course with a co-creation, “Inóspito”. In 2018, he joined the Professional Course in Circus Arts at the National Institute of Circus Arts (INAC), where he specialized in Dance Trapeze. In the first year, he was directed by Roberto Magro in the collective show “Before the Rain”, presented at the Vaudeville Rendez-Vous Festival and in 2020 he finished his training with the creation of a solo lasting 20 minutes.
After graduating, he started the course of creation and production of shows at INAC and developed his first show, “Fragmentado”.
In 2021 he co-founded the digital platform “À CONVERSA COM O CIRCO”, an online project that essentially consisted of facilitating the meeting and discussion of artists from different regions related to the circus arts and which was attended by 30 guests and gathered an average of 260 people per session, he co-founded the company CAOS and participated in the “Circo é Natal” season at the Coliseu do Porto (AGEAS). In 2022, he co-created the show FENO by the company CAOS that premiered at the Festival AgitÁgueda, in Águeda, and the show ARBOR presented at the Festival dos Canais, in Aveiro.
